George Wedge
Scarborough Woburn
George Wedge
George was born in Prince Edward Island and has proudly lived in Scarborough with his family for nearly 30 years.
George has had a 33-year career in the aerospace, aviation, and defense industries, specializing in investigations, and is an active and proud serving member of the Executive Board of Unifor Local 673.
He also serves as the President of the Rideshare Drivers Association of Ontario where he represents more that 100,000 rideshare workers in Toronto and across the Province of Ontario. In this role, George advocates for better working conditions for the city and province’s rideshare workers and has worked with NDP Member of Parliament Matthew Green to have the voice of gig workers heard on Parliament Hill.
As the father of two children with special needs, he is a dedicated activist for families caring for loved ones with disabilities. He has worked with the Toronto Catholic District School Board’s Special Education Advisory Committee as a Representative of Easter Seals Ontario for the past 8 years and is now serving his third term as Chair of the Committee.
Recently George worked in partnership with the aerospace industry to develop new models of accommodation and inclusivity for persons with neurodiverse needs in the workplace.
George wants to do more for his community, work for a fairer economy and a country stronger than ever.
George believes that for decades, both Conservative and Liberal governments have sold out working Canadians—gutting public services, driving up the cost of living, and letting the ultra-rich line their pockets with the wealth we generate—all while families, especially those caring for loved ones with disabilities, struggle to make ends meet.
He knows there is so much more we could do as a country to help make everyday life more affordable, address the housing crisis now, and fight this trade war by building more of the things we need here at home.
As a fierce advocate for persons and families living with Disabilities, George has most recently worked in partnership with the aerospace industry to develop new models of accommodation and inclusivity for persons with neurodiverse needs in the workplace.
George always believes he can do more for his community and as your candidate in Scarborough-Woburn, will continue to be a tireless advocate for making our community better, our economy fairer, and our country stronger than ever.
